Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

  1. Q.   Do I need to be a company to trade?
    A.    You either need to be a bona fide business, or a local authority to trade on the site. On the registration process you will need to enter your details.

  2. Q.   Can I trade without photographs?
    A.    Yes, but without photos the buyer will find it hard to see the waste and be reluctant to deposit funds upfront.

  3. Q.   Where do the prices displayed on the site come from?
    A.    They are actual mean averages from the closed sale trades per waste category.

  4. Q.   What happens when I forget the passcode to login?
    A.    Simply ask the WPE team to reset it via your membership supplied email address.

  5. Q.   How much does it cost for membership?
    A.    It is FREE to register and FREE to place waste. However, after September 31st 2012, if you want your 'own' secure holding account, you will need to pay a monthly fee.

  6. Q.  Will the people collecting our waste be approved as a waste carrier?
    A.   It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that Duty of Care is followed. Please contact the Environment Agency for further information.

  7. Q.  If our produced waste is shipped out of the country do we need to arrange export documentation?
    A.   It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that Duty of Care is followed. Please contact the Environment Agency for further information.

  8. Q.  What happens if the waste is taken away and is contaminated and we have already been paid for it?
    A.   It’s up to the waste carrier/buyer to check it before taking it away. Collection is the approval for payment.

  9. Q.  Who has the responsibility for the correct waste transaction?
    A.   It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that Duty of Care is followed. Please contact the Environment Agency for further information.

  10. Q.  What happens if my waste does not sell?
    A.   You can re-upload/post the waste again, and we will try to advise you on what steps to take to improve your posting. You may need to reduce your wanted price. Don't worry It’s free. It's important to keep trying because more and more buyers are showing interest, and they will eventually bid on your materials if you persist.

  11. Q.  How do we get paid?
    A.   By electronic banking fund transfer via BACS (free of charge).

  12. Q.  How does the paper trail work e.g invoices etc...?
    A.   A WPE automatic invoice is sent to the buyer from you the seller.

  13. Q.  What if the waste carrier/buyer arrives on site and doesn’t want it?
    A.   WPE is informed accordingly. We will also be informed of any bad practice. If either the seller or the buyer has acted in bad faith they may be unable to trade on WPE in the future.

  14. Q.  If we have our 'own' WPE holding account, how do we see that the money/funds have been deposited?
    A.   The LloydsTSB link is where you view your 'own' WPE holding account.

  15. Q.  What should we do if we don’t know what  waste category our waste comes under?
    A.   Simply place it under “miscellaneous” with photos and your best descriptions and contact us to advise. You can then upload it again. The main thing is you have uploaded your waste so potential buyers can see it.

  16. Q.  What do we do if the waste is of low value, or is hazardous waste?
    A.   Post/upload the details and don’t expect a payment for it. You will receive quotes to charge for collection. If you accept any of these then we will send you an invoice, and the reverse invoicing process takes place.

  17. Q.  How do we trade PRN’s (Packaging Recovery Notes)?
    A.   The seller shows what's available by uploading a sample PRN JPEG as a picture. The buyer simply bids on whatever PRN is being advertised.

  18. Q.  How do I add materials and descriptions?
    A.   Follow the simple upload wizard incorporated in the WPE.

    A.   Yes.
